UFC 2(No Way Out) was held on March 11, 1994 in Denver, Colorado at the Mammoth Gardens. This was the first(and last) time the UFC would have a 16 man tournament with the winner fighting 4 times in one night and receiving 60,000 dollars. The first 7 fights(openning round) were not shown on the pay-per-view to fit the time slot, but were shown the original VHS release. There were no rules, time limits, rounds, or weight classes. UFC 2 was also the first event that had ’big’ John McCarthy as referee and a japanese fighter all the way from Japan in Minoki Ichihara. Royce Gracie beat Pat Smith in the finals to be the second UFC champion.
